The Winning Factor in a Mature Market

(Cross-posted from Google+)

This is my completely prejudiced conception of some of the car makers' user profiles:

Audi: Designers and artists
BMW: Financial junkies
Mercedes: Engineers and CEOs
Cadillac: Rappers for their SUVs
Lexus: Real estate ladies
Volvo: Suburban moms with at least 2 kids

When your market is mature enough, features may not be the predominant winning factor anymore. Think how Apple wins when their hardware quality may not necessarily be the best in the industry. In a mature market, it's all about becoming the top-of-the-mind choice for users. (Inception, anyone?)

  1. Mature market or not, these cars often are catered to people who are financially well-off. These cars, may you be from any background, are executive models that put forward style and performance as their main selling point.

  2. "In a mature market, it's all about becoming the top-of-the-mind choice for users." I agree with this. An example that comes to mind is the Toyota Prius.

  3. I laughed while reading your profiling. It could be true but some would just want to buy the car that they want and what probably soothes their career and their budget best. used cars sales

  4. I believe that the name is the most important factor in this market because it's what matters most to people. If they have the top brands, they earn more bragging rights. Features is just secondary. Bad Credit Car Loan
